Student Ideas Exchange: Design in the Food System

Intended to build conversations about food within NCSU's College of Design and with the Raleigh community in general, this independent, open event hosted a wide mix of student and start-up food business presenters for its second iteration. A write-up of the first event, in 2012: designlife. Held at Raleigh's Urban Design Center, the line-up included student presentations on chicken coops, a culinary arts school-slash-food production center, an interactive community workshop on urban food, landscape architecture projects around food and education, and a vision for greater local food access for NCSU's campus. Bookending the student presentations, local start-ups CompostNow and The Farmery shared their stories, plans, and plans for the future. 

Participants were asked to share a bit of their background, relationship to food, and to draw their idea of a food system. Some of their ideas are presented here:
